The family service on May 28th celebrated weddings in style. The church was resplendent with beautiful decorations and a large congregation sang the most popular wedding hymns from the most recent weddings in the Benefice. There was a ‘re-enactment’ of the ‘William and Kate’ wedding followed by the opportunity for couples to recite their wedding vows. The ladies were presented with wedding ‘favours’ and we all had a good time looking at each other’s wedding photos while eating cake and drinking Prosecco after the service. Our thanks to everyone involved and especially Peter Meads for providing the cake and Button Cars for bringing a wedding car to the church for the occasion. And the wish of every wedding organiser? – the sun shone!
At the time of writing we are looking forward to the ‘Pet’ service on June 25th and the Teddy Bear’s Picnic service on July 23rd. Bring your teddy bears and watch them have a thrilling bungee jump from the tower after the service. Please also bring your own snacks/picnic to eat while socialising after the service.
The Pulloxhill Singers’ Summertime Concert was another great evening of entertainment on June 2nd. The usual mix of beautiful singing, amusing readings and delicious refreshments made it another evening of happy memories. Well done and thanks to everyone involved.
It was wonderful to have Roy Pinnock back in his usual place at Evensong on June 11th looking fit and well after his operation – welcome back Roy!
Ian Smith’s ordination service will be held on July 2nd in St Albans Abbey and we look forward to his first service in the Benefice on July 9th at 10 am in Flitton church. We wish him every success in his new role as Curate.
Look for the posters with details of the FOPC wine tasting evening – this promises to be another good social event at which we will all learn more about our favourite tipple.
Don’t miss the Summer Brunch! It’s on Saturday July 15th between 11 and 12.30 pm. Great breakfast and a good social occasion – we look forward to seeing you there.
