St John the Baptist Church, Flitton
News from Flitton
A huge thank you to Glynis Carr who organised the Tamla Disco at the end of June. She raised an amazing £3,000 which will help us to restore the church after the burglary. Thank you to everyone who went and helping us to raise this amount.
We had a wonderful day on Sunday July 9th when we welcomed Revd Ian Smith who is now our Benefice Curate. It was lovely to see so many people in the church. It was a very happy occasion and we look forward to
Ian leading some of our services.
We have also had a great baptism day when we had nearly 250 people in the church. We welcomed Albert and Harper into our church family, and it was great to see so many friends and family there. Also congratulations to Anna and Shane on their wedding on July 15 th
Please note a change to our service on August 20th. We were going to have a Teddy Bears' Picnic but so many people will be away, we have decided to do it another time. We will be holding Cafe Church instead from 10.30am
The Potato Race on June 11th was another successful event - well done Simon for all your organisation. The Friends of the Church did tea and cake in the church hall, and the church and mausoleum were open all day with tours by Margaret.
There was the most fantastic display of decorated potatoes in the back of the church, created by the children of Greenfield school. Everyone commented on how creative they were, so well done everyone. They were judged by the High Sheriff of Bedfordshire, Mr Vinod Tailor, and the winners were announced at school
If you didn't get to see them on the day, have a look at the photos below.
